What we know is that people who are in pain recruit muscles in the wrong order compared to people who do not have pain. This can result in imbalances in the way various muscles are controlled, as well as abnormal recruitment and sequencing of muscles during functional movements.
In addition to dysfunctional sequences of muscle activation, imbalances between antagonistic muscles have also been identified in people who suffer from pain.
We know that every BODY is uniquely different and physically moves differently based on genetics, injuries, imbalances, and more.
Building positive muscle memory requires the body to learn (or re-learn) how to activate the right muscles, with the right movements, at the right time (neuromuscular activation), to position, hold or move body parts into place, whilst maintaining awareness of their relative position to the other moving and stationary parts (proprioception).

Powerlifting, once you dive in, is gripping. It’s more than a workout—it’s training for a specific, and refreshingly simple, purpose: to improve the most you can lift in the squat, bench press, and deadlift.
This is an introduction class that you need to take prior to joining the Small Group Classes. The Movement Workshop is an immersive 60-minute exposure to training with a Coach. During this session, your coach will take you through mobility, strength, and cardio testing. The testing is needed to help create your individualized training program & to better monitor you throughout your group sessions. Included in the session is an explanation of the ‘why’ and the ‘how” as well as a discussion about the programming basics and the equipment you will need. Completion of the Movement Workshop is required before joining the Team Training Sessions.
During the Movement Workshop our Coaches will gain scientific insight into your VO2 Max, heart rate, training zones, anaerobic thresholds, and more! We will then understand how to train more effectively to improve your performance.
The three pillars of the functional model include the:
These 3 systems must be working together to be able to function properly. If one of the systems is awry and not working properly, it can produce various symptoms including poor quality movement, pain with movement, loss of strength, abnormal muscle recruitment, etc. This is why it is vital that the Modern Day Health Care Providers assess all three of these systems, and make sure to address any dysfunctions in either system to give patients the best possible outcomes.
At Thrive, our chiropractors, physical therapists, strength and conditioning specialists, and massage therapists are implementing this Functional model. The results have been pretty awesome, showing that by combining the chiropractic adjustment, with manual muscular therapy, and with exercise, clients get better results!
A typical patient progression in our clinic consists, of:
Pain > Altered Functional Movement > Mobility > Stability > Normal Functional Movement > Strength > Power.
At Thrive’s Gym, we do things a little differently. Don’t expect a spin studio, HIIT classes, or aerial pilates. We don’t have rows of cardio machines, and you won’t spend time performing random, inefficient exercises because your time matters, and we won’t waste it. Whether you are young or old, beginner or advanced, we look forward to supporting you in your journey.
Thrive coaches are not basic personal trainers. We don’t make-up workouts on the spot, stare at our phones, or ask you to do something we haven’t done ourselves. There will never be unqualified “coaches” in our training center. Ever. Every step of your strength & conditioning journey will be guided and monitored by a professional strength coach, who is able to correctly teach and coach – no matter your age, experience, or ability level.
Our 5-Star Training Programs are backed by sports science designed by coaches. It provides a weekly training schedule that builds on each training plan from week to week. Our programs include: Postural Restoration, Functional Training, Strength Training, Power Lifting & Landmine Courses.
We don’t exercise. We train.
One Size Fits One
Thrive’s Gym’s individualized Training Programs offers a small team training format, with a ratio of 6 athletes to 1 coach, allows the coaches to effectively deliver the right workout to each athlete every time.
Athletes of different ages, of different physical development, from different sports, can train together, each following a different training protocol suited to their specific needs.
Exercise can get you sweaty, get your heart pumping, or quickly burn a few calories. Personal trainers can make up a new workout each day and tell you that exercise variety is key. Random exercise with no clear long-term goal or intent is not training and at the end of the day, random workouts are not scalable, quantifiable and they don’t get results.
Training with a coach is different. It’s logical, regimented, and planned over the long-term, to produce a specific adaption. You will actually see (and feel) your progress each day as the weights slowly increase. All you need to do is show up and get under the bar.
Move better, become stronger, and stay healthy with our team coaching.
Our signature training programs for adults, a 60-minute full-body workout, is for all levels of fitness. The emphasis in training is on developing functional strength, mobility & stability, and coordination between major muscle groups.
We’ve taken the same knowledge that we apply to build strength, speed, agility, stamina, and power in these athletes and tailored it to meet the needs of adults with a variety of goals — from getting stronger, losing weight, postural correction, being better prepared for activities such as skiing, tennis, biking and the like — to those who simply want to feel in shape and healthier to meet life’s everyday challenges. The small-group training classes include warm-up, activation, strength, functional mobility & stability, and conditioning. A small athlete to trainer ratio of 6:1 ensures you always get the individual attention you need. Each athlete will follow his or her own program designed specifically by the coach.
Whether you are coming back from an injury or just prefer working with your coach one-to-one – we’ve got options. Every rep of every work set you do in our gym will be actively coached by a Specialized Coach. Our simple and logical approach to barbell training works every single time it is applied correctly for long-term, quantifiable progress.
