Thrive Chiropractic vs Conventional Chiropractic

Not all chiropractic is the same. Take a look around and you will see that no other chiropractic clinic in Amsterdam offers the same level of services as Thrive.

Conventional Chiropractic
Conventional chiropractic focuses on symptom relief or symptom management by temporarily relieving pain, reducing muscle spasms and inflammation. Chiropractors have done well under this model of symptomatic/relief conventional care, and many of them are great at what they do.

Thrive Chiropractic
If you think of the spine like a foundation of a house, you realize that weakness in the foundation can change the structure of the entire house. Walls begin to crack, doors and windows become deviated & won’t close properly, and floors become uneven and begin to creak. You can make cosmetic repairs, but sooner or later you’ll have to address the foundation, otherwise, the problems will return again …

… and again… and again… and again.

And suddenly, instead of achieving true correction, we’re relying on chiropractic to be much more like a natural (and sometimes expensive) form of pain medication.

At THRIVE Chiropractic, rather than constantly repairing the damaged areas, we’ve chosen to focus on correcting the “underlying foundation” so that your spine reaches as much of its normal structure and function as possible.

Of course, our services aren’t for everyone. However, if you are tired of constantly patching up the problem areas and are looking for a more long-term solution that you can both feel AND see for yourself, then Thrive Chiropractic may be the right place for you.

Once the foundation has been corrected, we’ll guide and teach you how to keep it that way through customized recommendations designed for your particular spine and level of dysfunction. We collaborate with a team of physiotherapists, nutritionists, strength & conditioning coaches, and more – to help achieve optimum correction.

We recognize there is always a person behind the problem. We guarantee to always treat you like a human being, not the next number on the assembly line.

We don’t have the solution to every health problem. We guarantee that if we believe you are not in the right place to get the care you need, we will help refer you to the best alternative to help you.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic Care focuses on improving the function of the body by correcting any alignment abnormality or motion abnormality of the spine. It’s become clear from chiropractors working with thousands of people that problems such as pain, headaches, muscle spasms, and lack of energy (collateral damage) are almost always a byproduct of a deeper issue (a core or foundational structural problem).

If we were to ask you what normal blood pressure is, you might answer 120/80. In healthcare, there are normal values for not just blood pressure, but many things like blood sugar, heart rate, bone density, body mass, and eyesight (to name a few). No one needs to be perfect, but there are accepted ranges. Most are unaware there is also a normal range when it comes to the structural alignment of the spine. A structural dysfunction is any alignment abnormality or motion abnormality that causes your spine to shift from its normal structural alignment. When the body, in particular, the spine, is unbalanced, the result may be a variety of secondary conditions (symptoms) such as pain, numbness/tingling, headaches, sciatica, hernia’s – just to name a few. By correcting the misalignments of the spine, chiropractors give your spine proper movement and help restore proper function to your nervous system so that your body can regulate and heal itself.

Unlike other basic fysio’s & even conventional chiropractors, who focus on symptom relief or symptom management by temporarily relieving pain and muscular tightness. Thrive Chiropractic has chosen to focus on correcting the “underlying core foundational” issues of the spine so that your spine reaches as much of its normal structure and function as possible.

Our Comprehensive Structural Examination process allows us to identify whether or not a core structural problem exists and could be limiting your health in ways you may or may not feel.

Suffering from a hernia? Thrive is the only chiropractic clinic in Amsterdam that offers IDD Non-surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy.

Why live in debilitating pain when your condition may be resolved without surgery. IDD Non-surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy is a pain-free tool in our toolbox we utilize to aid in correcting Structural Dysfunction. The procedure may provide relief to anyone that has symptoms such as a pinched nerve, herniated disc, sciatica, lower back pain, neck pain, or a variety of symptoms related to damaged or degenerative discs. IDD Non-surgical Spinal Decompression utilizes a computer-controlled contraction sequence of variable weight and tensions, to significantly reduce internal disc pressure. The SDT table promotes retraction of the disc herniation back into the disc and promotes the intake of fluids, oxygen, and other substances necessary for healing the disc.

EAT protocol

1. Exercise: Every patient that is accepted into our office performs corrective exercises before each adjustment. Similar to warming up before working out, these corrective exercises help give the patient optimal long-term results and maximize each adjustment. We use Chiropractic Biophysics equipment to enhance progress.

2. Adjustment: The core of our practice is our corrective adjustments that are performed based on all of the diagnostic findings from the initial visit. Each adjustment is different each visit and each patients’ adjustments are different depending on their specific circumstances and goals. Some patients prefer full spine chiropractic therapy, “cracking”, and some patients prefer instrument chiropractic treatment in order to not hear any sounds while being adjusted. All of our chiropractors can offer both types of treatments.

3. Traction: A differentiating factor from Thrive Chiropractic and many other chiropractic clinics in Amsterdam, is the final step of the process known as intersegmental traction. This is when patients lie on their back post-adjustment and set for ±5 minutes to allow the adjustment to set better instead of the patient jumping right onto their bike and losing many of the effects of the adjustment. The traction tables also aid in massaging the discs of the spine to help with better mobility and less inflammation.
